Another self-serving post – I need your keen sense of design on my side

West Elm club chair - the size is right
So as I mentioned in my post over the weekend, I am working on some furniture ideas for my new condo. One of my priorities is to swap out one of our two couches for a pair of lean, mean club chairs. They need to be cushy enough to really sink deep and relax in, but not oversized or overstuffed. I want something with very clean lines, no rolling arm rests or any funky shapes. I am thinking about 30″ or so wide, and no more than 34-36″ deep (preferably less). I found this one at Crate & Barrel and this dandy Humboldt chair at West Elm. If you know of any decently priced ($600 or less each is preferable) slim club chairs, give me a shout.
Also, I need to replace my beautiful vintage white melamine and pink wrought iron 48″ diameter dining table with something a little more compact. I have been looking at this line of extension tables from Italian co. Calligaris but there are probably some other great tables out there. I am thinking rectilinear… and preferably all wood, maybe metal but no glass or circa 1990′s ‘contemporary’ design, if you know what I mean. I am liking the Modern, Osaka, Vario and Zipp models on this site. I am happy to take other suggestions

Anica,
Try this one from Macy’s. The price is right, but I am not sure about the dimensions. We just bought the matching sofa and ottman and love it. Its all part of the Corona Collection: http://tinyurl.com/rd7lnp
I forgot to mention… Every other week Macy’s has 20% off coupons, these can be used in-store or online. This drops the price of furniture significantly.
I like it! I can’t find dimensions online, but I suppose I can call them. Thanks for the tip!
Anica,
I wish we were living closer or my architect husband were not so busy at the moment – He loves chairs and knows lots of local designers and fabricators. How fun to be looking for new furniture and know what you want.
Your work environment sounds fun and creative too.
Patricia, I would gladly take suggestions from your husband if he has the time or inclination! And you nailed it on the work environment – we do have a lot of fun and get to be creative (like on this blog). How did you stumble onto the site?
